Tunica & Graceland
September 22 - 25, 2009
Our day started out rainy, making our 4-day trip to Tunica & Graceland a good place to go and have fun after some dreary weather in the South Bend area.
Our arrival at Sam's Town in Tunica, Mississippi.
Breakfast at Sam's Town.
On Thursday, we headed to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. It's amazing that so many people still flock to Elvis' home. The lines were long and the gift shops were crowded.
Wearing our audio headsets, we arrived at Graceland on the shuttles.
Entering the home, the living room is on the right. They do allow pictures to be taken without a flash.
And the dining room is on the left.
Elvis' parents' bedroom is just beyond the living room.
And the kitchen area. Notice the gold refrigerator. There is also an avocado sink.
The Jungle Room.
The pool room in the lower level of the house. Notice the matching fabric on the walls and ceiling.
The recording studio in the lower level of the house.
The back side of the house and the swimming pool.
Elvis' father's office which has remained as it was when Vernon died.
The pasture and horses.
Model of the home where Elvis grew up in Tupelo.
Another building which contains some of Elvis' costumes, record awards and other memorabilia.
The gravesite area.
Then to top off a great tour, it was back to the gift shop area and the diner. Did anyone have a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich?
