9.29.12: Once again a great time in Tunica. Can't wait until next year. Nancy Z.
We headed out for our annual fall trip to the Tunica, Mississippi casinos on a beautiful autumn morning, arriving at Sam's Town around 5:30 PM, giving us some time to start warming up those machines.
Many, many thanks to Bernie and Pat for sending me so many pictures of subjects I had not taken!
A stop at Cracker Barrel for lunch.
Arrival at Sam's Town.
The morning of Day 2, we had breakfast at Sam's Town before departing for Bally's, where Ron, our greeter, met the bus to welcome us, give us our lunch buffet coupons, and let us loose for 4 hours.
We stopped along the side of the road where it looked as though a cotton farmer left one patch of cotton for the tourists to pick.
Then it was on to Hollywood Casino for dinner and a little more gaming before returning to Sam's Town for the evening.
The next morning, we departed for Fitzgerald's Casino and breakfast.
We like to get the passengers out of the casino on Thursday afternoon, for a change of pace, so this year we went to the lovely Memphis Zoo.
This particular monkey exhibit was located next to a cafe, where this pair sat at the window while people ate on the other side. You can see them through the window.
I had to stand and watch this gorilla closely to see if he was real or a statue. I only realized that he was real when he very slightly twitched his shoulder and barely moved his head, looking me right square in the eyes, before lying down.
A magnificent China Exhibit.
The "Animals of the Night" exhibit was totally dark inside, with iridescent bats on the floor to follow and very dim lighting inside the glass enclosures.
A wild canary singing his little head off in a tree right next to me.
The evening was spent at Harrah's for some gaming and a Paula Deen Buffet.
The morning of Day 4, it was time to head home on a drizzly morning, which was OK, as Tunica treated us to marvelous weather during our stay.
A lineup of sad faces having to leave again for another year. Thanks to all of our fun, marvelous passengers! We had a great time!
