San Antonio Holiday
December 13 - 17, 2016

A huge thank you to Georgene and Glenn M. for sending these pictures to me.  I'm happy to share them with everyone.

12.30.16  Dear Becky.  I want to tell you about the wonderful trip we took to San Antonio Texas. You partnered with Collette Travel and that group gave us an excellent trip. Our hotel was located right on the River Walk. All we had to do was open a door and we were on the outside. I have attached a few photos of the hotel and the river walk area both daylight and nighttime (Fiesta de las Luminarias). By the way, at the welcome reception, we had the best margaritas! We visited the Mission San Jose and the Alamo. Each mission and fort gave us a chance to encounter the culture and history of old Texas. Our guides provided much background information.
There was a dude ranch where we saw Texas Longhorn cattle, bison and beefalo. We could hand feed the longhorn cattle if we chose. Georgene fed one. It was a two hour drive through the "hill country" to the LBJ ranch, where we toured the "Texas White House" and the Air Force One, small by today's standards. We had a photo op with Lady Bird and Lyndon Johnson. We shopped at a historic arts village, La Villita, and El Mercado, the Mexican Marketplace. Each offer many, many items to buy, and showed the colorful culture of Mexican San Antonio. We came home with many wonderful holiday memories. We truly did enjoy the vacation, and having a beautiful hotel that was just a step out the door to the River Walk was a delightful plus.
Georgene and Glen M.
