NASCAR - Michigan International Speedway
6.21.11 - Kera and I had a great time at the race. It turned
out to be a perfect day for a race. As always it was good to see Paul
again, and to banter with him makes the day also.
It was a perfect day weather-wise for a day at the track. As you can see in some of the pictures, the sun was shining bright, but had several times of light cloudiness. Temperatures were in the high 70's and they were predicting rain in the late afternoon. The rain did cooperate and held off until our ride home.
My first exploration was of the concession area, where I had not gone before. I opted to take a look at this area this year, rather than the pit area, which was also included in our package.
I then moved on to the MIS Motorcoach Hospitality area for a bit of lunch before entering the track and found several of our travelers enjoying hot dogs, chicken, salads, green beans, cheese mashed potatoes, rolls and soft drinks.
And our handsome beer and wine server who was nice enough to pose for me.
This car sat outside of our hospitality tent. A man pushed a young man in a wheelchair up to have a look at the car. The attendants were nice enough to start the car for the young man, which totally thrilled him.
It was time to find our seats and get ready for the start of the race.
And the ride around the track before game start. Having a 2 - 3 second delay on my camera makes it pretty tough to get good shots, even though they are not driving at 200 MPH.
A lap around the track before the race started......then let the race begin!
The infield fan viewing platforms came in all shapes and sizes.
