Eli's Cheesecake & Superior Nut
11.12.11 Just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Chicago to Eli's Cheesecake and Superior Nut & Candy Co. It was really a fun trip. Take care. It was good seeing you again. Carol S.
We made our way to Chicago again for our annual holiday purchases. Cardinal had furnished us with a brand new 38 passenger bus which only had 3,700+ miles on it. It even still had that "new vehicle smell". And to top it all off, we could not have asked for better weather!!!
Upon our arrival at Eli's, first on the agenda is a slide presentation of the history of Eli's Cheesecake Company, but as soon as we arrived, some of the folks started making their choices of the goodies they wanted to purchase.
Our group took up the entire cafe and retail area.
We put on hairnets and headed to the decorating area of the factory for the tour. The wall cases contain the "perfects" and the center coolers contain the "imperfects". Prior to the tour, a number was drawn. Maxine M was the winner and she got to make her choice of 4 toppings to be put on the cheesecake being decorated and take it home.
It was back to the cafe for lunch which consisted of a sandwich, chips, soft drink and a piece of cheesecake.
And, of course, our choice of flavors for dessert.
Then it was time to make our final purchases.
Wonderful treats in the display cases at the checkout include cheesecakes, desserts, muffins, sandwiches, salads, and so much more!
We almost completely filled the luggage compartment of our 38 passenger bus!
We then headed just a mile or so down the road to Superior Nut & Candy Company. Available for purchase were nuts and candies of all kinds in bulk, boxed nuts, carmel corn, gift packages, chocolates, etc. Just about any kind of candy you could think of.
It was time to head home with full tummies and lots of goodies to share over the holidays. We will see you again at this time of year in 2012, Eli's! You may even see us before that at your next Dock Sale!
