By the looks of our filled bus and a full luggage compartment after shopping, it seems everyone had a great shopping spree! I usually like to get a picture of the luggage area under the bus, but it was raining pretty hard, so I passed on doing that this year.
Our first stop was Superior Nut & Candy where they sell nuts and candies in bulk, as well as gift boxes.
Our next stop was Eli's Cheesecake for their dock sale. Great prices on imperfects.
Food shopping can build up an appetite, so lunch at the Red Apple Restaurant was next on the agenda. This Red Apple Restaurant probably has one of the best buffets I have ever seen. And the service was superb! One of the most genius things they did was have the noodles, chicken, and veggies at our settings already in the bowls, then came around after we were seated with the hot both to pour over it.
Cold boiled shrimp and a beautiful selection of salads.
Ham, roast beef, pork hocks and sauerkraut, an assortment of potatoes, pastas, fish - just to name a few items.
And a well stocked bar.
My plate. Ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, pork hock and sauerkraut, chicken, potato pancakes, and beef tongue.
Our last stop was Gene's Sausage Shop. It had not dawned on me that I had not taken photos there. I counted 16 varieties of fresh sausage. They also sell prepared food to take home, such as stuffed peppers, lasagna, meatballs, etc.
It was time to head home. Below is typical Chicago traffic. Pretty, but everyone was happy they were not driving.
