"Elf" - A Very Merry Musical
December 9, 2017

12.11.17  Hi Becky, just wanted to thank you for a fun day in Aurora. I think it was the best meatloaf Iíve ever had and the musical was fun. Looking forward to the next time!  Jean D.

The first real snow day in the area and our only Christmas trip was scheduled.  South Bend was a normal somewhat mild winter day, but as we arrived in LaPorte, the storm had started there.  The roads we highly snow covered between LaPorte and the Illinois state line, but as we crossed over into Illinois, there wasn't a trace of snow.  Strange how that lake effect works.  George was our driver and I could have no more confidence in a driver than I do in George.

We arrived for lunch at the Fireside Grille in Sugar Creek, Illinois, just about 4 miles away from the theatre.  The food was excellent and the service superb.  I didn't hear one person say that their lunch was just OK.  Everyone was thoroughly pleased with the entire meal.

We had a darling 8-year old girl on the trip with her grandmother.  It was her first time on a bus and the first time at the theatre.  She was a delight!

We started with a lovely salad.

Our entree choices were meatloaf

or ribs.

Topped off with an ice cream sundae.

We arrived at the Paramount Theatre, a beautiful theatre comparable to the Morris or Lerner, offering Broadway quality shows.  This was our second show at the Paramount and have 2 more scheduled.  We have never been treated so well at any other theatre we have visited.

Of course, no pictures are allowed of the stage or the performance.  It was top-notch offering superb dancing, music, and razzle dazzle - not to mention a fun story.

We waited inside for about 15 minutes after the show to allow the cars to clear out so our driver could pull up to the curb for easy boarding.  This also gave us some great photo opportunities of the beautifully decorated lobby and to experience so many people dressed in Christmas clothing.  I was particularly entertained with the guy who was dressed in a suit (suit pants and sport coat) with Santa heads all over the complete outfit.  He walked proudly!

The bus arrived and it was time to be on our way home after a very pleasant and entertaining day with a great group of friends - both repeat passengers and new passengers.
